I feel so happy to announce that I was one of the finalists in the second Panhellenic Photography Contest Natura 2000 “Click in Nature”, in the category "Humans and Nature" with one of my photos from the volcanic island of Nisyros.

This year the second organization of the competition "Click in Nature" was sealed with the participation of 1510 creators who through their 4,643 photos in the four competition categories highlighted the natural wealth of our country.

"For the second consecutive year, WWF Hellas and the competition partners welcomed the participants who, by submitting their excellent photographic material in four categories (Man and nature, Birds, Animals and Plants, Landscape) became ambassadors of the Greek Natura 2000 areas.

With their images, the photographers highlighted the ecological dimension of the Natura 2000 sites where endangered species of flora and fauna are protected, raising public awareness on issues such as climate change, sustainable development, and the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. We note that the Natura 2000 network protects in Greece 299 endangered species of animals and plants, 128 species of birds, and 89 important habitats.

The adequate protection of the vast natural wealth of Greece is a matter for all of us. That's why promoting the value of Natura 2000 protected areas can also be a matter for all of us. This was the goal of the organizers of the 2nd photography competition "Click in Nature", the only photography competition dedicated exclusively to the Natura 2000 areas of Greece, which will take place annually."

You can see the virtual 3D photo exhibition with the works that stood out in the second photography competition here:

The exhibition includes the 40 works that were distinguished in the 2nd pan-Hellenic photography competition "Click in nature".

Exhibition design and editing: Photographer Magazine (περιοδικό Φωτογράφος)

The jury of the competition consists of the photographer, director, and documentary producer Vicky Markolefa, the forester and ardent nature photographer Anastasios Sakoulis, the nature photographer Vassilis Sykas, Dimitris Zantzas communications manager for the biodiversity of WWF Greece, and the journalist of the Photographer Magazine Pan. Caldis.

Congratulations to all the participants!

Bronze Award at the Tokyo Internatinal Photo Awards

My warmest congratulations to all the winners and the participants for their amazing photographic works!

"What does really mean to stay connected with your faith? Is it a profound need, a personal quest for spirituality, the fear of the unknown, and death? Is it a tradition, following the steps of your family and your ancestors? Is it just a plexus of laws, rituals, and interdictions or something deeper? This image shows a man holding in his arms an old icon, a relic of his family, passing from generation to generation.

What`s the emotional weight of such an object?

Inspired by the items immigrants and refugees carry with them during their exile"

The photography exhibition "Unique and/or singular", organized by the Seeeds Gallery, took place from November 18 to November 21 2021 in Paris at 32 Pastourelle street, 75003.

Seeeds Gallery is the first photo gallery dedicated to Food Photography. The mission is to promote the work of photographers who use culinary elements as a source of inspiration and to highlight photographers who explore the limits of this kind of photography (documentary, fine art, abstraction, or sociological research) and put their work on the walls of main Photography Festivals.

It was such a great honor for me to participate in this amazing exhibition with my photography "The plum keeper" and be one of the 27 participating artists. Congratulations to all for their amazing works and many thanks to Stephane Bahic for his help on the printing and the framing and overall for the awesome arrangement, organization, and promotion!

“The plum keeper” is a self-portrait through which I’m intending to depict and honor a treasured memory; the season of plum harvest during my childhood. I still remember the sweet aromas and flavors in the house of my grandmother while she was preparing the fruits for her famous plum compote. I recall all the details, her hands slicing and peeling the plums, the light, the sounds, everything caught in the stillness of a definitely passed time, enveloped in the vapors of the kitchen. Senses and memories awaken. How does it happen? The typical shape of a common fruit, like a plum, may also work as a container of precious memories and trigger some special thoughts and emotions apart from the sense of taste.

This image works as an emotional landscape, an edible metaphor that follows the narrative flow of a hypothetical fairytale: “once upon a time, there was a bird-eye man, the guardian of the magical plums. The vigilant keeper was warming up the precious fruits with affective gazes, whispering and blowing all the unspoken words of his life…”
